Ladies and Gentlemen
First of all allow me to extend my sincere thanks to the hosts of the of launching ceremony of the Centre for China – Africa Agriculture and Forestry Research – these are non other than the Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University (ZAFU) and International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR). We have been wonderfully welcomed with traditional hospitality of Zhejiang People.
I understand that the Center to be inaugurated today aims at promoting research on China – African agriculture, science and technology in close collaboration with similar institutions in Africa. Indeed this institution is being established at an appropriate moment, for now days we are in age of scientific progress. Application of scientific method in the field of African agriculture and forestry will make our further progress more successful. Research and development (R & D) is nowdays integral part of institutions and industrial networks for improvement in cost and quality.
So we look forward that in the Center for China – Africa agriculture and forestry research science and technology will run side by side with special emphasis on bamboo and tea resources.
